This study aims to describe the environment-based students’ motivation learn Arabic in Islamic Boarding schools West Sumatra. Motivation is seen from its intrinsic and extrinsic aspects. research employed qualitative approach with data collection techniques carried out by observation, interviews, documentation, questionnaires. Data analysis were triangulation of observational data, document analysis, descriptive statistic. The findings indicate that boarding Sumatra employing learning it was evident improves speaking skills generates them. Intrinsic encourages student speak arabic, which indicated desire discuss arabic languange materials categorized as “ very well ”.“ desire”was also raised on aspek “seriousness doing tasks” showing at “very well”category, aspect “students’ progress” showed “good” category. In short, environmental sheds light engagement Arabic.
